California Surf Battles Through Four Championship Games at Labor Day Festival

California Surf opened its season with a deep run at the Labor Day Festival, the club's first tournament of the year, sending four teams to the championship game across four different divisions. It was a weekend of hard-fought hockey for the program, capped by a championship at the Midget A/JV level.

Midget A/JV Brings Home the Title

The high-water mark of the weekend came at the Midget A/JV level, where California Surf outlasted the West Ranch Wildcats 4-3 in the championship game to claim the title — the program's lone gold of the festival.

Close Calls at 8U and 14U

California Surf came up just short in two tightly contested finals. In the 8U B championship, California Surf fell 3-2 to Jr. Reign in a back-and-forth battle. The 14U AA squad ran into a similarly tough result, dropping a 3-2 decision to Jr. Reign AA2 in their title game.

16U AA Runs Into the Blackhawks

At the 16U AA level, California Surf's championship run ended against a tough opponent, falling 3-0 to the Santa Clara Blackhawks.

Looking Ahead
