California Surf Hockey Club Earns Gold and Three Silvers at MLK Challenge Tournament
The California Surf Hockey Club put together a strong showing at this weekend’s MLK Challenge Tournament, finishing with one gold medal and three silver medals across multiple divisions. Surf teams competed with intensity and resilience throughout the weekend, earning podium finishes against tough regional competition.
The highlight of the tournament came in the 8uB Flight 2 division, where the California Surf captured gold with a 7–4 championship win over the Jr. Reign. The team’s balanced scoring and strong effort in the finals led to Sterling Cohen being named MVP, recognizing his impact throughout the game.
California Surf also earned three silver medals following competitive runs to the championship games. In 10uBB Surf finished runner-up after a 6–1 loss to the Jr. Reign. The 12uBB team battled through the bracket before falling 8–1 to the Wave in the finals, while 16uA wrapped up the weekend with a hard-fought 3–1 loss to West Ranch in their championship matchup.
With the MLK Challenge complete, we now turn its attention to the upcoming season.
